Cathedral Carol Service
On Monday evening, we were delighted to welcome students, parents, staff, governors and friends of the school to our annual carol service at Manchester Cathedral. In addition to singing carols with great gusto, the congregation thoroughly enjoyed some magnificent performances by our choir, gospel choir, orchestra and guitar, string, woodwind and brass groups. We were also delighted to welcome students from St Andrew’s CE Primary School, Levenshulme, who performed ‘It was a starry night’ and ‘Mary’s Boy Child’. Our thanks go to the music department for once again making this a spectacular occasion to remember. Special mention must also be made to teacher of music, Ms Gocher, who leaves us at the end of this term, for all of her hard work and dedication over the past five years. We wish her well at her new school as Head of Music.
Our guests of honour at the Cathedral included Mr Warren Smith (Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester), Cllr Abid Chohan (Deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester) and Canon Maurice Smith (Diocesan Director of Education), who all gave readings during the service. The evening came to an end with a blessing from The Venerable David Sharples, Archdeacon of Salford, all choirs performing ‘O Holy Night’ and the congregation singing ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’.
