French Trip
Teacher of Maths, Ms Rimmer, tells us all about the wonderful trip to France last week, secured by funding from the ‘Turing Scheme’ – the government’s replacement for Erasmus funding:
“Over the half term break, Miss Barnett, Mr Barton, Mr Sinnott and I took a group of 34 Year 8 and 9 students on a cultural trip to Normandy. It was an extremely enjoyable week packed full of activities. Students visited a goats cheese farm, the Bayeaux tapestry, Omaha beach and British and American cemeteries. We also spent two days in a partner school in rural Normandy. During these two days, our students learnt about the differences between the French and English school systems, and were able to participate in many different lessons. The students were able to meet their pen pals and had a chance to ask lots of questions and make lots of new friends. The students were staying in an 18th century Chateau and enjoyed a range of fantastic activities in the evening: football, ultimate Frisby, karaoke, a disco but of course not forgetting some time for some big test revision. The students were excellent ambassadors for the school at all times and received praise from everyone we met for their respectful and inclusive manner.”
Thanks to the team for accompanying the students and to Ms Walker for securing the funding.
