Ghyll Head trip

During the first week of the summer holiday, 48 students from across Year 9 and Year 10 took part in an outdoor adventure residential to the Ghyll Head Activity Centre in Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District. They had an amazing time doing a variety of outdoor activities which took them out of their comfort zone. These included; mountaineering, climbing, orienteering, zip wire, caving, canoeing, paddle boarding, toasting marshmallows on an open fire, swimming in Lake Windermere and navigating their way around the hills on their own!

As well as all of these outdoor activities, the students undertook tasks such cleaning, washing up, setting tables for meal times, making their beds and tidying their rooms. The students learnt an incredible amount about them-selves and about working as a team.

One student described caving as “the scariest thing I have ever done but I am so glad I did it and conquered my fears!”

Thank you to Mr Scott and Ms Baxendale for organising and accompanying the students on the trip and to the other staff in attendance.
