Politics Trip
Year 13 student, Charlie, tells us all about a recent politics trip he attended:
“Last week, our class of Year 13 Politics Students attended the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. Whilst there I learnt a lot from the delegates, members and different companies that had come from around the UK. During the time in Liverpool, we listened to Ex-Labour Leader and current Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband, deliver a speech to the Conference.
I found that his speech on energy, as well as other matters around the world, was quite passionate and it made me want to engage more with what he was saying. I think the experience of seeing such an influential person talk about politics, as well as all the other discussions I had with many other people at the conference, has supported my learning by letting me see exactly how Party Political Conferences work. I also learnt about some of the workings of the Labour party during our visit, including the vote for a new Deputy of the Labour Party.”
