Sixth Form Updates

From our Sixth Form Academic Mentor, Ms Hall:
“Year 12 Health and Social Care students recently enjoyed a visit to the Thackray Museum of Medicine and University of Leeds open day last Friday. They completed a session called ‘What is Medicine’ and looked at the development of antiseptic and antibiotics from the Victorian era up to present day as well as looking round the interactive exhibits in the museum. They also had a look round the University as it was a perfect opportunity as the Leeds open day was on at the same time!
As previously mentioned in the newsletter, some of our Year 12 girls are involved in a professional mentoring programme called the Girls Network working with women from a variety of professional backgrounds. In addition, our students have access to a number of workshops and talks such as ‘Body Positivity’ and ‘Women of Colour Networking Event’. The first of these workshops kicked off last week and the girls enjoyed a great session discussing Body Positivity and approaches to the fitness industry.”
