Trinity Gospel Choir to be featured at the MOBO Awards!

From Director of Music, Ms Madden: “We are so proud and excited that our very own Gospel Choir has been selected as the lead choir for the upcoming MOBO Awards to be held in Manchester for its 30th anniversary. The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) are Europe’s largest and most influential celebration of Black music and culture and this prestigious event is taking place at Co-op Live on 26th March 2026.

Our 72-strong Gospel Choir has been chosen to lead dozens of primary school choirs in a project called ‘Manchester Sings MOBOs’, and last week took part in a professional studio recording of two songs at the RNCM. They performed Optimistic by Sounds of Blackness featuring Marley, a young artist from Reform Radio, and You Gotta Be by Des’ree. The recordings will be edited into a video which will showcase the incredible musical talent of our choir to an international audience. The video will be shared online in the lead-up to the MOBOs as well as being screened on the night, and the choir will perform at the launch event at Whitworth Art Gallery on 19th March – watch this space for more info!”
