‘Unsung Heroes’
Every year, the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, selects 20 ‘unsung heroes’ who are nominated by their leaders for demonstrating a ‘never give up’ spirit in the face of challenging circumstances. Year 8 student, Izzy, is a Sea Scout and has been with Chorlton Scouts since she was 5 3/4 as a Beaver Scout. Over the last year, she’s faced some real challenges with a serious illness. Through it all, her scouting spirit has been amazing, doing activities at home, joining in when she could, and even taking part in kayaking and going to camp – we are so incredibly proud of her.
We’re therefore absolutely delighted to be able to say she was chosen by Bear this year and was invited, along with her mum, dad and brother, to go and meet him in Birmingham, receive her award from him and take part in some exciting activities at the Bear Grylls Adventure. Congratulations Izzy!
