Cultural Day Highlights
At the end of last term, students across the school came together to celebrate Cultural Day, sharing traditions, talents and experiences from different cultures. Members of the Culture Club took part in a cooking session with MAV, a charity based in Hulme that supports cultural projects in the local community. Students were learning how to make sweet and savoury plantain fritters while exploring the cultural stories behind the food.
The Sixth Form students organised a bring and share at break time, with lots of homemade dishes from different cultures. A henna station, run by Culture Club students, was also a popular feature.
Culture Club created a cultural quiz for all forms in the Sixth Form, Mr Dennis did some music creating a great atmosphere across the school. Lastly, a cultural video assembly by Dr Birkinshaw and Mrs Knight celebrated both identity and South Asian Heritage Month.
Cultural Day was a great opportunity for students to learn from each other and celebrate what makes our community unique.
