Final Day Of Term

I think we’ve had a really good first term in school.  We’ve dealt with almost 90 cases of Covid-19 amongst students and staff but hopefully you’ll agree that together we’ve kept disruption to an absolute minimum and where self-isolation has been necessary, remote learning has been the next best thing.  Our team at school has been fantastic – well done.
We are making the final day of term for students THURSDAY, 17th DECEMBER, 2020 – with a normal finish time.  Students should NOT come to school on Friday, 18th December, 2020.  To make up for the day that students will be missing, we will be in school on Monday, 22nd February, 2021, which was intended to be a teachers’ training day (INSET day).  I am in no doubt that a full day of education on that Monday in February will be educationally better for all our learners than the traditional ‘half day’ on Friday, 18th December, 2020.  Also, as a result of this decision, our track and trace team will not have to contact anyone on Christmas Eve as a result of any contacts made in school – which can only be good news for all our families.
Our non-uniform day will therefore now be taking place on Thursday, 17th December, 2020, with a £1 charity donation. All proceeds from this and our Christmas Jumper Day will be split between the charities that are normally supported this half term, including Save the Children, Children in Need and the Shoebox appeal.
Other activities to look forward to include Christmas lunches, Christmas assemblies and our virtual ‘Christmas Celebration’. This special recording was filmed at St Ann’s Church and in school and will be launched at 3.30pm on Wednesday, 16th December, 2020. We look forward to sharing it with the Trinity community.
