Trinity General Election

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, our Citizenship Coordinator, Ms Ellison, led assemblies about the General Election that took place on Thursday, 12th December, 2019. Students learnt about manifestos, constituencies and how a general election takes place, before learning that Trinity would be hosting its own General Election. Students watched a video, featuring the above students from Year 11 and the Sixth Form, who each represented one of the four main parties. Our representatives presented a summary of the manifestos for each party and told students why they should vote for their party. On Thursday, all students were invited to vote for their preferred party, by using the school’s new ‘Show My Homework’ app, between the hours of 7.30am – 10.00pm.

At 7.30am this morning, the results of our election were sent to students. Of 826 votes cast; Conservatives 59 votes, Green Party 114 votes, Labour 614 votes, Liberal Democrats 39 votes. A resounding victory for the Labour party. The activities this week have been a great learning experience. Thank you to all involved in the background and to Ms Ellison for leading the election process.
