Vaccinations

As you will be aware, the UK’s Chief Medical Officers recently announced that all 12-15 year olds will be offered a first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine as part of the next phase of the national vaccination programme.
Vaccinations will be delivered on school sites by Manchester Local Care Organisation (MLCO) via their NHS School Health Immunisation Service. This is the team who deliver a range of other vaccinations in schools across Manchester as part of their regular work, so they are experienced at delivering vaccines in school settings.
Parental consent will be sought and parents will be communicated with via the school, in line with the usual process for other vaccinations. Parents will be sent a consent form alongside the nationally produced information leaflets to help you have informed discussions with your child so you can decide on whether to take up the vaccination offer.
We have been advised that the vaccinations should be taking place towards the end of this half term and we believe that would be in the week commencing Monday, 15th October. We will communicate with parents as soon as we receive confirmation.
A range of resources regarding the vaccination can be accessed using the following link: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-resources-forchildren-and-young-people
