Drama

Curriculum Intent

Drama lessons offer students opportunities to explore the world around them in a creative and expressive way. Our broad curriculum provides all students with lessons which focus on social skills, communication skills, raising self-awareness whilst encouraging their understanding and empathy for other people, places and cultures. Our key stage 3 curriculum is designed to explore a variety of acting skills, script work and thematic based units of work. The units taught will prepare students for key stage 4 study and the BTEC Acting qualification whilst also developing them as individuals, making them more able to respond to a variety of topics in a thoughtful and interesting way. Drama provides students with a safe space to imagine, explore and create.

Strengths of the Department

We teach in a very practical way using lots of group work and encourage the sharing of work through performance.
